In addition to the variety of financial aid, grants, and scholarships offered by the University, the following scholarships were endowed specifically for students in mathematics.

Dr. Fred A. and Frances Pickens Lewis Endowed Scholarship

Awarded to a deserving full-time student, junior level or above, who is majoring in pure mathematics (not statistical or applied mathematics). Recipient must have interest in teaching pure mathematics, but must be enrolled and pursuing a degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. No application is necessary. All students who meet the criteria will be considered. Amount is variable; scholarship is renewable if performance and academic progress merit retention. This scholarship is awarded as funds are available.

Thomas W. Palmer Scholarship

Awarded to a deserving full-time student, junior level or above, who has shown a marked proficiency in mathematics and intends to pursue graduate studies in mathematics at The University of Alabama. No application is necessary. All students who meet the criteria will be considered. Amount is variable; scholarship is renewable if performance and academic progress merit retention. This scholarship is awarded as funds are available.

Hugh Lawrence Quarles Endowed Mathematics Scholarship

Awarded to sophomore students who graduated from high schools in the state of Alabama, are majoring in mathematics, and possess a minimum grade average of B. No application is necessary; all students who meet the criteria will be considered. Scholarship amount is variable and this scholarship is renewable if performance and academic progress merit retention. Awarded as funds are available.

Pearson Endowed Scholarship

Awarded to a deserving full-time student, junior level or above, who is majoring in mathematics. Recipient must have interest in teaching mathematics, but must be enrolled and pursuing a degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. No application is necessary. All students who meet the criteria will be considered. Amount is variable; scholarship is renewable if performance and academic progress merit retention.
