The conference hotel is the Hotel Capstone.
Click here to book with our special rate. The deadline to book at the reduced rate has been extended to February 25. The rate is $125 per night without tax. (It is $147.75 per night including tax.)
The Hotel Capstone is adjacent to the University of Alabama campus, and is a short walk from the meeting location. Note that it does not have free breakfast, but a buffet is available for an extra fee. There are also restaurants within walking distance.
Parking is free.
The closest airport is Birmingham-Shuttlesorth International Airport. The airport code is BHM. (There is more than one Birmingham airport in the world, so take care). It is about 60 miles from the airport to the University.
There are some shuttle services available from BHM to the University. One is Scuttle Shuttle. They have given us the code SEAM19 to use when booking to get $5 of per leg of the journey. With the code, it is $60 one way and $115 for two ways. The code should work up to 2 days before the conference. Scuttle shuttle has now added extra shuttles on Sunday for us. They request that you try to book around midday when most people will be using the shuttle to leave the conference, if possible. Also, please book early – the conference is near the end of the University’s spring break, so shuttles may become full.
Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson airport (ATL) is about a 3 hour drive away. It is an option for possibly a cheaper or more direct flight, but you will likely need to rent a car if coming from Atlanta. Also, if it costs more to fly to Atlanta and then get to Tuscaloosa than it does to fly to Birmingham and get to Tuscaloosa and you get support, the University will likely only reimburse you for the cost of going to Birmingham, due to University policy.
