Congratulations to the UA student chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics for being awarded the 2022 AWM Student Chapter Award for Fundraising/Sustainability. The chapter is being honored for their efforts to increase membership, for their innovation and success in collecting funding for their activities and for the diversity of events offered throughout the year.

Each year the Award for Fundraising/Sustainability recognizes a student chapter for an innovative and successful funding model that provides financial support for its activities or otherwise sustains the student chapter. Such a model could include organizing r3eview sessions prior to exams, soliciting support from local industry sponsors, writing proposals for university or government grants.

The AWM Student Chapter Awards will be presented at MathFest on Friday, August 5, 2022 during the MAA Ice Cream Social. A certificate and $100.00 check will be presented to the UA Chapter in recognition of the award.

Chapter members were notified of this award by AWM President Kathryn Leonard. Martha Makowski is the student chapter advisor, Awa Traore was the Spring 2022 chapter president and Meghan Boyer served as the social media chair.
