Dr. Yuanzhen Shao and Dr. Shan Zhao awarded NSF research grant

Congratulations go to Dr. Shao (PI) and Dr.  Zhao (Co-PI) who have been awarded a National Science Foundation grant from the Applied Mathematics program of the Division of Mathematical Sciences, in support of the project: “Collaborative Research: A new diffuse-interface approach to ensemble average solvation energy: modeling, analysis and computation”. This is a collaborative effort with Dr. Zhan Chen at Georgia Southern University, which aims to study the random fluctuations of biomolecular systems in the framework of variational implicit solvent modeling and to develop efficient numerical algorithms for calculating the ensemble average solvation energy.
